BCCI is set to expand the highest revenue-generating source of income for them further as they are looking forward to introducing Women’s IPL. Rumored for a long time, the Women’s IPL will be part of IPL in 2023 for the first time.

It’s confirmed that at least eight existing IPL men’s franchises will bid to own teams in the WIPL.

The auction for the winning bidders will be telecasted live on January 25 when it opens sealed bids.

Further, into the WIPL development, BCCI has shortlisted venues, and among the included are Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, Eden Gardens in Kolkatta, Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, Bengaluru’s M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala, Indore’s Holkar Stadium, Lucknow’s Ekana Stadium Guwahati’s Barsapara Stadium and how can we forgot the hotspot Mumbai venue though the decision will be taken whether to choose Wankhede or DY Patil or Brabourne stadiums based on availability and other factors.

BCCI has set no base price and bidders have been asked to quote the price for 10 seasons. The criteria are simple, “Stadium with the highest bid amount will be awarded first”.

Further commenting on the format, the inaugural season will comprise 22 matches with each team playing others twice. Interestingly there will be no semi-finals as the table topper will directly get entry into finals and those who are in second and third spots will compete in an eliminator to determine the second finalist. This format will continue for another two years and from 2026 WIPL will include 33-34 matches.

Women’s IPL has received a lot of appreciation from players and panels around the world. Indian players like Harmanpreet Kaur, Jemimah Rodrigues, and Smriti Mandhana have welcomed the WIPL announcement while Mithali Raj and Jhulan Goswami who bid adieu to international cricket in recent years are hoping that someone picks them.

  • The Unnoticed Similarities between World Cup 2019, 2015 and 2011 – NowIamUpdated

Wondering What’s the similarity between the last three Cricket World Cup? It’s the host that has won the cup in the end.

Cricket World Cup 2019 England and Wales was in news for wrong reasons since start of the league matches. First of all due to several abandoned matches that it got the title of World Cup with most abandoned games. Secondly for the reserve days in league matches and finally the way World Cup champion was chosen in a tie game. Umpiring was at its worst level this year and it continues to do so. But did anyone notice the similarities between this world cup and last edition of it?

Several people have shared the Pakistan similarities this world cup with the World Cup 1992 in which Pakistan was the champion. But what’s the similarities between this world cup and previous two editions of it?

This year, it was England who became the champion and in 2015 Australia won it. India won their second World Cup title by knocking out Sri Lanka in the Cricket World Cup 2011 final. Any there any similarities? Yes, there is one – Last three world cup has been won by team hosting the cup. In 2011, India, Sri Lanka and (for the first time) Bangladesh hosted cup – India won, in 2015 Australia and New Zealand hosted the cup – Australia won and this year it was played in England and Wales and England won it.

Last three Cricket world cups have been won by country where it’s played.

Further in the 2015 and 2011 World Cup, side hosting the cup qualified for the finals. It was India vs Sri Lanka in 2011 and in 2015 it was Australia vs New Zealand. This year, England was the only team from European continent so there was no chance for any European team making it to finals.

  • Cricket World Cup 2019 becomes the World Cup with Most Abandoned Matches – NowIamUpdated

Cricket fans are very disappointed with the way Cricket World Cup 2019 is going. The rain god has a very important role to play this world cup in England and Wales. Record-wise, with just 16 matches played and it has become the World Cup with most abandoned matches.

Generally in a cricket game, either one of the two teams wins at the end but here it’s the rain God that has decided the fate of the match, maybe even the fate of some teams as well.

Sri Lanka team is the most hurt with the rain-affected matches. Starting of their campaign on a losing note, the team would have expected to bounce back in the upcoming matches. After winning their second league match of the world cup against Afghanistan in a rain-curtailed match, the team then witness two abandoned matches, one each against Pakistan on June 7th at Bristol and against Bangladesh on June 11th.

Next in terms of effect by rain is the South Africa team which was looking to win their match against West Indies but had to split points as the match ended “No Result“. South Africa has to win all of their remaining games now.

Here interesting thing to note is that there is difference between ‘No Result‘ and ‘Abandoned‘. In a match if no toss happens then its called Abandoned and if toss happens but doesn’t get completed due to rain gets a No Result. In both cases in league matches, the points are shared by each team.

Several users took twitter to speak out their voice against no results matches –

Is it a world cup or a rain cup? Staying warm with a tea cup, coffee cup, soup cup….

Some even questioned ICC decision to host world cup in England –

If England can’t host the world cup without rain then why icc chosen this place for world cup either change the place or should have some reserve day for such a big tournament it’s not gully cricket it’s world cup

Is it a world cup or a rain cup.

I hope there will be no more Abandoned or No Result matches further in this series because this a world cup which happens every four years. Stay tuned for more updates on Cricket World Cup at NowIamupdated.com.

  • South Africa needs atleast 5 wins out of 7 Remaining to qualify for ‘Super Six’ in Cricket World Cup 2019 – NowIamUpdated

With just barely 5 matches completed in ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 and South Africa team now fears elimination. Although South Africa has still 7 matches to play but in order to qualify for Super Six, you need to atleast win 5 matches. The “Chockers” tag is back in jinx. The dreaded c-word has started chasing them right from the start of the world cup.

Analysis of their first two matches reveals that it’s South Africa’s mistake that they are sitting at the bottom of the points table with two losses in two matches. They lost to England by 104 runs in opening match of the world cup and on June 2, they lost to Bangladesh by 21 runs, one of the biggest upset so far in this series. It’s quite surprising to see such a good team with consecutive defeats.

Now that leaves South Africa with 7 matches to go and here are their upcoming matches fixture –

South Africa vs India 5th June

South Africa vs West Indies 10th June

South Africa vs Afghanistan 15th June

South Africa vs New Zealand 19th June

South Africa vs Pakistan 23rd June

South Africa vs Sri Lanka 28th June

South Africa vs Australia 6th July

Team Faf du Plessis can easily defeat Afghanistan and that’s just one win for them. Team should be concerned on how to get the other four wins as roadmap looks pretty tough for them as they have to face India, Australia, New Zealand, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and West Indies in their upcoming fixture.
